New incentive for the tourism industry

25 January 2018

Dear Client

At last there is a new incentive for the tourism industry.

The Green Tourism Incentive Program ("GTIP") offers a grant to those looking to reduce energy consumption and/or convert to green energy.

The offering is generous: 30% at least and 90% at best.

The grant can go as high as R1 million per applicant. In addition, they will pay 90% of your (mandatory) energy efficiency audit.

Good news is that the program is administered by the IDC. More good news is that a Level 4 BEE certificate is not a qualifying requirement.

The program has a small budget and the first application window is about to close. However, it runs for three years and we have it on good authority that more money is expected and a new application window will start soon.

This incentive applies to private tourism enterprises only.

Talk to us if you are interested in our advice and assistance to successfully claim this incentive. Phone us at 021 939 7496 and speak to Theo, Petrus or Reino. Or write to
