APSS open for applications April 2019

5 April 2019

Dear Client

The Agro-Processing Support Scheme ("APSS") was opened again on 1 April.

Usually a grant program closes when that program's budget is fully committed, which makes things rather uncertain. Our advice is to get your application in as soon as possible.

We did expect that the rules of the APSS would be revised before it's relaunch, but no, it is word for word the same as before.

As it's name indicates, this program is specifically aimed at processors of agricultural products. That includes pack houses, animal feeds and fertilizers. However, it also includes fibre processing and furniture manufacturing.

  • The APSS is available for new projects as well as expansions.
  • The program offers grants of between 20% and 30% on the cost of capital items.
  • Once your application is approved, you can immediately claim your grant on the cost of assets already purchased and commissioned, and later again on further purchases.
  • The program has some challenging transformation requirements.
  • You have to apply in advance.

We would gladly advise you on all aspects of the rules and we would do a proper evaluation to see if you could qualify. We'll confirm our opinion and advice in writing.

You are welcome to mail me or alternatively, you can phone us at 021 939 7496 and ask to speak to an expert.

Regards
Theo Meintjes
